Farmingdale High School - Guidance

The primary function of the Guidance Department in the Farmingdale School District is to help each student find a learning environment that maximizes his or her potential. Certified School Counselors are available in our middle and high schools to help your child through interviews, consultations with teachers and parents, group guidance, and small group counseling. Interviews may focus on educational, vocational, social, or ethical guidance. An interview may be initiated by a student, parent, teacher, or counselor.

Early Decision / Early Action

Early decision and early action plans allow a student to apply early (usually in November) and get an admissions decision from the college well in advance of the usual spring notification date. Usually you will know by December or January if you’ve been accepted. It is important to review the differences and the obligations that go along with these application options. Please read the following information to better understand the pluses and minuses of each. If you have any questions please discuss them with your counselor.
